Hi togehter,

do you know how the 3CX handle an emergency call when all lines are busy? For example if you have a 3CX license for 4 SC and all the 4 lines are busy,
what happens if an emergency call will startet?

thanks in advanced!

regards,

I would say, if all available outbound routes are being used, the emergency call will not connect.

Sorry that would be a horror szenario! It should be possible that if an emergency call is there, that this call should be prioritized!
It would be OK when 1 call is break for that.

If you are worried about it, I would suggest you upgrade to an 8SC license.

Sorry, that cannot be for my opinion.

That is no problem its pretty normal. Think about the old analog time, when its busy its busy... To switch the licence to 8SC doesnt help as well when the SIP provider only has two lines...

The fact is, if you need more lines, you need more lines. 3CX does make accommodations for emergency calls. For example, even if a phone is not permitted to make outbound calls, 3CX will bypass any restrictions and place the emergency call.

But, let us be pragmatic for a moment. 3CX is in the business of selling phone systems based on the number of simultaneous calls NEEDED. In my view, you NEED more lines to ensure emergency calls can go out.

If you are concerned about paying for a rarely-used additional call path, perhaps you should look for a carrier that bills based on usage rather than "lines". Many carriers will let you make an unlimited number of simultaneous calls since their billing strategy is based on usage rather than the number of call paths.

Just curious, the only other option I can see is that the PBX choose a active phone call to drop so an emergency call can be placed (based on your argument that you only have 4 call paths). Which call do you suggest they drop? The longest running phone call? The shortest? A random phone call?

Frankly, 3CX practically gives away the phone system, so investing a tiny amount more to ensure emergency calls can go through is simply a no-brainer.

I could be mistaken but I thought 3CX allowed you to go over the SC limit if the call was to an emergency number.
4SC, 4 calls in use, SIP trunk is capable of making a call (maybe it's per minute or some calls are internal), you pick up phone #5 and dial defined emergency number, it goes through and triggers the notifications if configured. Doesn't matter if after hours, disabled extension, license limit, etc. - if 3CX can make the call it does.

You could be right. But that does not solve the SIP trunk limitation.
