Hi all,

We are running 3CX 7.1 and it is ruuning well. However when the internet goes down we lose our phones. Is it possible to configure a FXO gateway (such as Vegastream or Grandstream) to recieve all incoming calls via a PSTN line and then make outgoing calls on that same line(s) when the internet goes down?

If your primary trunk is a SIP trunk, then if you add another gateway device you can determine in your outbound routes to failover to a second or third route if one fails. Currently, 3CX supports up to 3 trunks per outbound route.

Gotcha - thanks for your input on this - it is really appreciated. I notice you work with voipstore.. if you had to choose a patton or a grandstream gateway what would be your favored unit?

Also would it be possible to use something like a Sangoma A200 card in the 3CX box rather than a separate physical gateway box?

You can use a card, Just make sure its on the supported list.

In terms of my preference, the internal Sangoma Netborder Express cards are very nice if you want an all in one solution with top notch echo cancellation and quality. If you want external, the Patton Gateways are nice since they auto configure and have great quality. The Grandstream gateways also boast well and are very price competitive. If you have any questions just call 888-864-7786, ext 207 and I will walk you through it.
