Hi,

We have deployed 3cx image from Azure marketplace with v20 4SC PRO trail version. We could register Linphone softphone with 3cx after 407 authentication. We are trying to place outbound test calls from Softphone ---> 3cx PBX --> SIP trunk Provider --> Destination. However 3cx PBX is sending the 407 Proxy authentication response for the SIP Invite from softphone. But the Generic SIP trunk we have configured is selected Type of authentication as "Do not require - IP based" I'm not sure why 3cx is authenticating the SIP Invite from softphone even after extension (1001) registration. It seems outbound calls are not reaching SIP trunk. Please find the attached images. Could you please suggest.

Thanks !!

Regards,
Thara Krishna

Why you use linphone? You will have the softphone from 3cx. What provider is it?

@Thara Krishna It is normal/expected for 3CX to challenge the INVITE with 407 for every call even if the extension has already authenticated during registration. The calling endpoint in turn should resend the INVITE with authentication this time though. Your client however seems to not be doing that. I would suggest that you use one of our clients (3CX Softphone for Windows, 3CX Webclient, PWA, Android, iOS) or a supported IP phone (https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/).

Hi Andreas,
Thanks for your response. We have existing softphone (Linphone) installed on user's laptop (windows) for internal network testing. I will explore option 3CX Softphone for Windows or any listed supported IP phone (https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/). At the moment, we have a working test setup (Linphone) Softphone on windows laptop and open source PBX version on Azure cloud and now evaluating 3cx PBX on azure cloud to replace the open source PBX version. Thought to go with existing softphone (Linphone) as replacing or introducing a new softphone in our organisation should go through lot of security requirements or procedures to follow which might take months time.

Hi,
Linphone is an open source instant messaging and voice/video over IP (VoIP) phone that makes it possible to communicate freely with people over the internet via voice, video and text messaging. It is from Belledonne Communications SARL. We use this for internal network testing to replicate some test scenarios.

I know what Linphone is, but your want to test 3cx and 3cx should be used with there own softphone to prevent any problems.
