Our organization might be a little old-school on this one with all the social media out there, but is there a way to configure an extension with a VM which only plays the greeting and then disconnects? We are using this type of voicemail box as an emergency update line so employees can call in to check the status of the organization in the event of an emergency/disaster/weather issue/etc. I don't want to collect any messages on this line - just play the greeting.

I think I read a suggestion where someone said to record extra silence at the end of the message so people will hang up, but wondered if there was a way to do this in the system without using these tricks.

Create a digital receptionist, play the message and action will be drop the call

I guess this will not exactly do the job that was asked for, it will say "Thank you and Good Bye" before the call is dropped. At least I had that same idea ages ago and I had to create a sound file using a few miliseconds silence. Then I repaced the "BYE" audio prompt with it (original: thankyou_goodbye.wav).
Not sure if there is a way nowadays to skip that message.
