Hi there,

I'm currently evaluating the commercial version with 4x :
  • server: AMD Dual-Core Opteron (3GHz / 3Gig RAM) / Windows Server 2003 / dedicated 3CX Server
clients: latest Intel Core i5 with 8Gig RAM / 3CX Phone software
    network: 1Gig

... and I notice the following:
  • when 2 phones are connected, the 1st Core is higher it's workload from 3% to 95%
when 2x 2 phones are connected, the 2nd Core higher it's workload from 1% to 90-95%
when a client is on hold, the music on hold is very bad. Not even something of a song ..
we have a very good performing 1Gig network

QUESTIONS:
  • does anybody have experience with AMD processors for this environment?
Is the workload per Core normal (90-95%)

thanks,

Hans J.

Is this a virtual machine?

We have never had this problem before. on the power you are mentioning you can make hundreds of sim calls. Now you cannot even barely make 2.

when 2 phones are connected, the 1st Core is higher it's workload from 3% to 95%
Does this Spike and go down or remain constant until the call is terminated?
Something is very wrong with the machine I would say. What other applications you have on this computer?
Do you have recording on? (edit extensions options)
Do you have PBX delivers audio? (edit extensions / options)

quick test you can do
Try installing 3CX quickly on the I5 client computer - see what happens..

that cant be normal. I have a few installs on xp pro machines with 10 to 15 calls at a time and the cpu usage never moves. a box like that should be able to handle alot more.

I too have almost the extact same setup and never had a problem. I have never used more than 10 calls at once but the server was at less than 3% when doing that...
