Afternoon everyone! I am hoping you can help me out, we are on the verge of rolling out 3CX company wide replacing an aging nortel system, and there is one person here that I want to setup with a... Special... phone.

I have a Patton 4112s that I was using to test faxing, that I am trying to use simply as an ATA with a phone I just purchased.

This phone:

The problem I have encountered though, although the phone seems to work the ringer isn't doing anything! I tested it on an actual phone line and it worked, so I am wondering if its just an undervoltage thing or something?

Is this something that can be fixed in the Patton settings? Can you think of any way to make this work?

Hi Proud Canadian,

In the UK (where I am based) if we get under voltage issues then we normally use a ring capacitor adapter to overcome this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Titan-LJ5109-EG-MICROFILTER-CAPACITOR/dp/B0040Y7AOG

However in your country you don't have to do this I dont think (as your devices use two wires, with the ringer bridged across tip to ring). If a call is taking place to the phone the ringing voltage is "doing it's job" on an incoming call so I doubt it would be this.

The only things I think you may want to try are:

Is this FXS device being auto-configured by 3CX ? if so it will be importing a country specific tone set. If you are doing it manually (which I doubt you are) perhaps import the toneset for your country.

Tone-set is normally documented by your Telco.

Just a side note as well - Rotary type phones do not use DTMF if dialing out does not work you may want to look at enabling under Ports / FXS / and enabling "pulse dialing".
