I'm new to 3CX but have had a working PBX in a Flash system before.

I've set up an extension with a CallerID. When I place a call it gets received with a different number (I'm fairly sure it's my VoIP provider.)

I've done some searches for the problem. This thread sounded likely. It suggests I go to SIP Trunk -> Outbound Parameters and set: From: User Part = "OutboundCallerId".

I did that. I could no longer complete the call and instead got a 403 error message.

Thanks.

Is the caller ID you've set a number in your SIP trunk? Are you sending a number you own.

No -- it is set in extensions.
Ideally, I want to send out two different caller IDs. Ring group 1 gets ID A, and RG 2 gets ID B. It looks like setting it in the SIP trunk allows only one outgoing ID.

Your provider must allow the number that you are sending, if it is not one that you acquired from them. I assume you have out the number in the extension settings for outbound caller ID. The outbound trunk settings required will not be exactly the same for every provider.

Who is your provider?

Caller ID comes from the extension setting, or the trunk setting.

Callcentric. And I'm sending a number they provided. I currently have it set as a 10 digit number. It looks like I'm buying the DID as an 11 digit number. I'll try changing that in the extension and seeing it that fixes things.

Tried changing the Extension caller id to 11 digits. Still got the 403 error.

Im assuming you've read this? https://www.callcentric.com/support/device/3cx_version_16

Caller ID to send
You can choose which phone number will be sent out to people you call in the Caller ID if:
  • You have multiple DIDs provisioned to your Callentric Account

    or

  • You have completed our Third-Party Caller ID Number Verification Process
The person you are calling will see the phone number selected here if they have caller ID service and the number can be transferred to them. Certain destinations, particularly international calls outside of the USA may not receive caller ID.
PLEASE NOTE: If you see "Forced to" followed by a number in this field, this indicates that Callcentric Support has previously forced all calls on your account to be sent with the caller ID indicated. Please contact support if you wish to change this."

I've read the 3CX setup guide and have just been through it again. I don't see anything about outbound caller ID. There is some configuration guidance for incoming parameters; that part I've made work.

I have two DIDs via Callcentric and the ID I'm trying to send out is one of those. What is currently displayed is neither.

The section "Caller ID to send" in bold above sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. It is not part of the link you posted. Could you give me that? Thanks.

I was also talking with my Callcentric support. They pointed me in the right direction.

Thanks for the help troubleshooting.
---------------------------------------
If you would like to change the Caller ID based on the 3CX Extension that is placing the call, you will have to make use of the "P-Asserted-Identity header"/"Remote Party ID header" to pass outbound caller ID information via the SIP INVITE packet. Within your 3CX SIP Trunk settings please try setting the following:

--- Outbound Parameters Tab ---

P-Asserted Identity : User Part - "OutboundCallerId"
P-Asserted Identity : Host Part - "OutHostPort"

--- Inbound Parameters Tab ---

Call Source Identification (Checked)

Dropdown 1: To User Part
Dropdown 2: "Line ID" internal number of line

---Extensions page (please select a specific extension)---

Outbound Caller ID: 18644588521

**Note: The number must be in the full 11-digit format.
