Hi all,
I am having problems with getting my linux 3CX instance activated. I keep recieving the error "Unable to reach 3CX License Activation Server. Confirm that your Primary DNS Server is able to resolve activate.3cx.com".
After looking into the problem, updating DNS servers can help so I changed them to Google. That didn't work so then to Cloudflare. That didn't work. What can I do to resolve this.
I am running the Debian machine inside of VMWare Workstation Pro 17 and have a static IP Address.

Thanks!

What version of 3CX?

It certainly sounds to be a network issue rather than a 3CX issue. Have you tried another machine, on the same network, to see if it is able to resolve the 3CX URL?

Yes I am able to access the URL through a different virtual machine on the same server, connected to the same network and on different computers, all that have the same DNS.

Wich release of 18 are you on ?
The latest or are you running an older version?
The latest it was downloaded a couple of days ago from 3CX.

@TVN-ADyson Had the same issue, make sure to go to the "Updates" Section in your Management console and update anything that needs to be, I updated at least 5 times until it made me update to 18v5 and Now I was able to activate! after each update, go back and check if there is another update, usually only one update shows up at a time, so go back into the updates section and update until no more updates show up, then go to yur license section and refresh license key info

@mathieufitzgerald Thanks I will try this, initially it said I had three updates but later they disappeared, will see if they reappear after a restart.

When I installed my 3cx i was on v18.0, and i went to the updates section, and it showed that I can update to 18.1, i updated, went back, showed 18.2, updated, went back and so on until i was able to update to 18v5 final. After that you should be good and you should be able to refresh your license key info and activate,

Great, thanks for the help!

@mathieufitzgerald Sorry but it didn't work. Inside the 3CX management console there was no updates available so after running both sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade It allegedly downloaded some updates, but they appeared to have made no difference whatsoever even after a restart. Now through either the console or running those commands there are no updates available, so I think my best chance is to reinstall or install fresh on a windows instance rather than the debian version. Thanks for trying to help!

You'd be better off reinstalling on Linux (avoid a Windows license and updates), and simply enable the "auto updates for 3cx" and that's it.

It will keep itself up-to-date and no more dealing with outdated systems.
