Hi there

I love Yealink phones to tend to use 'em wherever I can. There is one thing that is stumping me though - if I try to use the History on the phone to dial someone back, it has the number in the history as: 441234123456 rather than +441234123456 so 3CX (or the phone) barfs and says incorrect number. Is this something I should set up on the phone so that it adds the "+" on these incoming numbers?

Cheers
Chris

Hello @thames

Are the numbers coming in as 441234123456 or do they have the "+" when coming in? You can handle this a few different ways depending on what is the best option for you. The first way is to adjust your outbound rules to prepend the "+" sign so the phone will still be dialling 441234123456 but the PBX will add the "+" and the provider will be able to handle it.

The other way is to reformat the numbers as they come in through the trunks caller ID tab. To use this method you will need to know how the number is coming in the system so you can reformat it.

Yiannis that worked like a charm! Brilliant, thank you.

The only other thing left is when the call comes through, on the phone screen we get:

441234123456:TGIS:TGIS 01234123456

How do we strip that so that only the second part comes through on the screen, i.e.

TGIS 01234123456

Many thanks
Chris

The depends on your call flow. From the provided info i assume that the call goes through an Inbound rule and then to a Ring group or a Queue. The PBX prepends this information on the call if the option is selected under the Contacts / Options tab.
Also it looks like your provider is sending the number in the From:Display name and From: User part sip field with different formats so if you do not want to see both numbers you can change the inbound parameters of the trunk to read the number from only one sip field. If you are not familiar with inbound parameters and SIP fields i would recommend making a note of the original settings and be careful with what you change as this could break routing of inbound calls.

Hi Yiannis

I have it set as per the attached image. What would you suggest I change to have only the second part, i.e. the incoming Ring Group ID (in this case TGIS) and the number?

Cheers

Remove the name from the Inbound rule and save. This should remove the first TGIS. Regarding the inbound parameters i cannot be certain what the provider is using in order to be sure what you need to change. This is a shot in the dark but try changing the CallerName, From: Display Name to P-Called-Party Id: Display Name. Basically you are looking for a sip field the provider is not using so it will be empty.
Note that if the provider starts sending the callers name in the From: Display Name it will not show up on the phones as the PBX will no longer be reading that value. Try it and let me know if that works. If it does not revert the settings back to the originals.

Hi Yiannish do you mean to change the middle one :

From: Display Name

change to

From: User Part

Sorry - not sure what you wanted me to do. The SIP provider is OrbTalk in case that makes a difference.

Cheers
Chris

I made that change but hasn't changed anything from the PBX. The Email I just received for a missed call is:

New missed call from: 447377525566:TGIS:TGIS 07377525566

So it is rewriting the number in the second part correctly but still pre-pending the 447377525566:TGIS to the string.

What we would like is on the phone to only have the second part show like this:

TGIS 07377525566

If this is possible.

Many thanks
Chris

Please change your Inbound parameters as follows:

Also if you have an Inbound rule for the number please delete the name of the inbound rule and try again

Hi there Yiannis

OK - I tried that. It removed all the details from the phone screen on the T29G Yealink phone but on the T27P it still displayed the TGIS and the incoming number below it. Strange?

Removing the name of the inbound rule just deletes one of the "TGIS" from the displayed data.

Cheers
Chris

Different phones display data in a different way depending on firmware or screen real estate. So you now have one TGIS and one phone number displayed?

Sadly not. Both the older phone and the T29G appear to be displaying only:

:TGIS

...on the screen.

I guess it doesn't matter whether the incoming number is prepended to the :TGIS which would make it look like this:

01234123456:TGIS

That would be OK but would need to be displayed both on incoming call and history. Can we try something for this?

Apologies for the long delay - been away for a couple days.

Cheers

Hi Yiannis

I think I have it resolved. I have set the Inbound Parameters as follows:

Top: Leave Default Value
Middle: P-Called-Party-ID (User Part)
Bottom: From: User Part

This results in the correct information being displayed on both old and new Yealink screen when the call is ringing in.

Then to resolve the History list. I went into the setup on the phone to:

Features / General Information / Call List Show Number

I changed the value to: Name & Number

This resulted in the history showing two lines (a) the incoming ring group and (b) the number.

Thanks so much for the help with this. I think we have it solved and hope this helps others who want to customise their incoming call display and history display on the phone.

Cheers
Chris

Glad to see the issue has been resolved and thank you for updating the thread with your solution. Of course these settings are specific to your provider but i am sure someone will benefit from this.
