I have 2 different sites with new 3Cx v20 systems. i had to enable hotdesking since they use shifts in pbx to answer calls. if an agent logs in to a hot desk phone and leaves the phone logged in over night that user can no longer log in to a hot desk phone. i logged the user out of hot desking from the 3CX console, reset the phone, reset the 3CX, now when this user attempts to log in to a hot desk phone, anyone of them. (fanville x7c) it says log in successful shows them logged in on the 3CX but the light is still green next to the hot desk ext. it never logs the person in to the phone. I can take other users that have not kept theirselves logged in over night and log in to any hot desk phone. This looks like a bug in the software to me any suggestions will be much appriciated.

HotDesking subsystem has been greatly improved in the Update 4, which is currently at Beta stage. It also incudes auto logout feature.

is this a knows issue with hotdesking on v20 version 3? am i safe to upgrade this production system to v4 beta? this problem makes my 3cx useless for this property. it is a 3000 room resort they use shifts and acd to answer their operator calls with a mitel system now. i am integrating the 3CX with the mitel to answer calls but if it makes a user unable to log in to a hot desk phone if they leave their self logged in over night it is useless.

This is the first time I hear about it.

The official recommendation is always to wait for the Release version.

this happened on two different systems. once a person can't log in to a hot desk phone the only way i found to fix it is to delete the user and rebuild them.I am going to leave a person logged in to a hot desk phone over night to confirm this is what broke it. reseting the system the phone makes no difference. other users can still log in and out of the hot desk phone so it appears to be a user issue. anyone else having trouble with this on v20?
I noticed when a user logs in to HD00001 the green light next to HD00001 turns grey and it shows the user logged in to the right. when it doesn't work HD00001 shows a green light next to it and the persons name shows logged in to the right but it never logs them in to the phone.

Have you tried:
- logging out from the phone first (*77*5) before logging in?
- rebooting the phone (not resetting).

If this doesn't help, instead of recreating the user you may try restarting 3CXSystemService, it synchronizes its internal state on start. /This is not recommended but if helps, use it as the last resort.

As far back as I can remember despite being able to have multiple devices provisioned to a user, a user can only be logged in to 1 Hot desking device at any given time.

As @ivank mentioned, the ability in Update 4 to automatically log out users from a hot desking device would solve your issue.

Do have in mind though that this would terminate the calls in progress at the time on these phones, so dont just log them out at the specific time they knock off from work, as this would not look good on the customer being serviced at that time.

the user only logged in to one hot desk phone. it worked logging in and out 2 days before that everytime several times. The user left the phone logged in overnight. when they went to use the phone it says HD00007 on the display like they are logged out. This user still shows logged in to HD00007 in the user console but hd00007 status light is green instead of grey. i can select log out and it removed the user. anyone else can log in to the hot desk phone so i don't think it is the hotdesk phone. This user can't log in to any hot desk phone. it says it works but never shows up on the phone. i rebooted the phone, rebooted the server. none of that worked. Deleting the user completely and rebuilding them as new is the only fix i have found. i'll check what happened.

Maybe the option to enable hot desking was removed from the user. Did you check your audit log to see if there was a configuration change on the user?
