How do I route my call into the 3CX PBX?

I am super new to setting this up and thank goodness that there was a express set in the cloud. I'm not a techy person but have used grasshopper, freshcaller, Phone.com etc. There you would buy a number and it would be available to call in to and then I could set the queue, dial an extension etc.

I'm struggling to find how I setup the call in phone number for example, 800.xxx.xxxx or a local number. Can anyone help me with a guide on how to use a phone number with this system? I have setup several extensions in the system but not sure how to route a call into this system after someone calls a number.

Update: I believe that we need to get a direct dial number. Is there any recommended direct dial providers that will integrate with the 3CX pbx?

You must first subscribe to a VoIP service provider. You don't have to have a Direct Dial Number (DID) unless you are planning on having several incoming numbers, with each routed to certain extensions. 3CX has a list of recommended providers https://www.3cx.com/partners/voip-providers/ and using one of those would make for the easiest set-up. There are some free services that will route toll free numbers for you. http://www.sipbroker.com

Once you have provisioned an outgoing trunk to the provider, you must create outbound rules to route call over the trunk. https://www.3cx.com/blog/voip-howto/outbound-rules-a-complete-example/ You must also decide where you want incoming calls to go. https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/inbound-did-call-routing/ That could be a ring group, a single extension, or a digital receptionist. It all depends what you want the PBX to do for you.

If it is a simple home installation, you might want to put all extensions into one ring group so that anyone can answer an incoming call.

Every installation is going to be different.
