I have an employee who left a month ago. I went into his extension, and for every status like Available, Away, DND, etc I set all the forwarding options to be our main call queue. So, "If I don't' answer calls within X seconds" and "If I am busy or my phone is unregistered" and "After timeout forward external calls to", and so on, all of those options for every status which is what I typically would do in the past.

However, when a person calls in and dials his extension, it just says "Call Transfer Failed."

Can I just delete this extension entirely, and some how create a virtual extension that goes to the queue? When I used asterisk years ago I could do that by adding an IVR option being the 4 digit extension, but 3CX seems to only support 0-9 and * #.

I just need every single call dialed to extension 3191 to be sent to the main call queue.

If this is primarily for dealing with outside calls, and this is a DID, you could change the destination in the DID rule, for the time being. Check the default destination of the incoming trunk as deleting the rule might accomplish the same thing. Have you had a look at the 3CX Activity Log, for a reason, that the forward is not working? May require setting the logging level to Verbose for any meaningful information.

If this is a DID like @leejor says then just setting the DID routing to go to the Queue should indeed do it. If as you mention this is an extension again why keep the extension at all? Is it because you have users who know that extension number and will try calling it? If yes and you need to keep the extension, you can create an exception instead. Just edit the extension, go to "Forwarding Rules" scroll down and create an exception such as:

Note: Setting the Caller ID to * means the rule will match absolutely all calls to this extension. Also, bear in mind that exceptions override Forwarding rules so this should be all you need.
