We have done quite a lot of internal development using various API calls and by watching for and acting on files being created such as CDR files and call recording files etc to integrate our v18 3cx into our in house built systems.

Were assuming a significant portion of this will get broken by the v20 update which we are going to need to fix before we can go live with it.

So what's the recommended way to run an isolated test/development version to acheive this. My main concerns are the url/dns settings, trunks, licencing etc and anything I havn't even thought of.

I've got no problem running a completely isolated network but what are best practices for achieving a working test / development environment that gets around my above concerns.

Use a separate instance with a separate license key and use it as a ongoing dev lab. That's the best and easiest way.

Also, v20 will probably make most of your API calls break and make your life easier at the same time for things like recordings.
