How is the split screen supposed to work in a video conference?

Will it automatically split according to the number of participants or can I control its behaviour?

I did some tests the other day and it reacted very weirdly.

i.e. I had 4 participants out of which 1 had no webcam.
User A: had his screen split into 4
User B and C: had their screen split into 2
User D: had his screen split into 2

We did a couple of refreshes on all participants browsers with no improvement. Leaving and rejoining the conference didn't help at all.

Any ideas why not every participant had his screen split into the number of participants to see everyone's webcam stream?

Is nobody using the video conference or is it just working 100% for all of you?

Could you update Chrome on all users and check again?

Did that and it works correctly. Hm, will keep an eye on it but looks like it really was an issue with the different browser versions.
