Hello 3XC,

we have some kind of an issue with our customers using 3CX. There are different kinds of how the caller IDs or names of saved numbers are displayed.
In one case I only saved the caller ID with its name in my local contacts on 3CX.
The colleague calls me and it is display with its caller ID on top and in the next line there is its name displayed. After the name, separated by ":", there is the extension inbound rule name and afterwards again the callers ID. That would be ok for us, because we can see the callers Name from the contacts in this case.

The other case, that is more often displayed, shows the caller ID twice. On top of the Dialer and again in the line below. After the second caller ID, separated by ":" again the inbound rule name and just after that you can see the callers name, as saved in the contacts, but the line is too short to read this. You can just see the name afterwards in the call list.

I don't know why it is sometimes with the name instead of the caller ID again but the most of the times it's the caller ID twice and the name just after the inbound rule.
In this case "#Ich Handy" would be the correct name to be displayed.
This is how both cases look in the call list. On the bottom it is the better case to be displayed and on the top of the call list it is the weired displaying, where the name is too far at the end of the line.

Can this be fixed, so that all numbers, that are know by the 3CX extension, will the names be displayed at first?
These are contacts in the global contacts, the own contacts, the 3CX extensions as well as the extensions saved mobile numbers.

Hi @PhilK,

What settings do you have in your Advanced >> Contacts >> Options currently?

Should be the default settings I think.
Do these settings also apply for the personal contacts?
The 6 characters should be enough. So it seems to be the last setting to append, prepend or not adding the name for?

Even if I do not add the DID Name (inbound rule) it looks like this in the Dialer.

I changed the DID name to "Phipsi" to be sure it is not the extensions name.
All the tries look like this.
The problem is, that the caller ID at the beginning should not be the caller ID, here should be the "#Ich Handy" like it was for Justin as you can see in the first screenshots.

On the bottom: do not add
In the middle: prepend
On the top: append

Hi @PhilK,

We do not modify the CallerID Text in any way, this is sent by the provider. There isn't a way to remove it, so as you pointed out, adding the user to the contacts (global) would be the easier way of dealing with this.

Hi @VasilisV_3CX,
sorry if I have not expressed myself correctly, but in both ways the numbers of the callers are added to the phone book. But I was wrong with "Justin". "Justin" has been saved to the global contacts, that was my mistake. But now I saved this one to my personal phonebook an here it is displayed the same "wrong" way. So my question is, why are the different phonebooks displayed in others ways in the dialer for incoming calls? I don't think, that it makes sense to do this.

Hi @PhilK,

I've checked this and it seems that if it's a global contact it will appear at the beginning when Prepending it, however if it's a private contact, they'll always appear at the end. You'll be able to see the name in the Panel, however I know that if the string of text is too long, you won't see the private contact appear in the Dialer.

That said, I'm sure that we will consider scrolling text to remedy the situation.

Hi @VasilisV_3CX,

ok then we are now at least on the same level of knowledge on the subject.

In my opinion, it makes sense if the name from the contacts is always at the beginning, regardless of whether global or personal contacts. And the option with the scrolling text is needed anyway, because the line in the dialer will probably not be sufficient in most cases. But if the name is at the beginning, you see directly on the 1st view who calls. Over which DID etc. comes is first of all beside the point.
Could you clarify with those responsible whether and which solution should be considered here?

Hi @PhilK,

This would need to be raised in Ideas, following the standard practice for implementation. You're welcome to link this thread to provide more clarity on what you're proposing.

In what category of ideas? Webclient or Server?

I think it should go into Webclient as the new Desktop App is basically an extension of it.
