How To Expand Debian Disk Full

Hello everyone,
I have a 32 S.C. Pro installed on a Debian with 20gb hdd (no recordings or other things active). This morning it suddendly began giving some problems and we noticed from the dashboard that it had 100%cpu and 100%disk.
Via SSH I used the DF command and i noticed that dev/sda1 was full
I restarted the machin using sudo reboot now and when it came up again it had 2,1gb of free space so now it's working good but I think I will have the same problem again soon.

My question are:

1-is it possibile to expand the hard drive?
2-can I just turn the machine off, increase whith more gb the actual hard disk and then expand it? in this case can somebody give me some advice on what is the correct procedure?

1. Yes it is possible, you will need Linux knowledge tho.
2. Isn't that the same as #1?

Check your logging level and have you enabled chat logs? Those things take a lot of space.

Please run this on the Linux instance: du -Sh | sort -rh | head -5.

Post the output please. This will tell us what are the biggest folders on your system so we can track where the disk space is gone.

Hi sory for not responing, I tryied to use fdisk after enlarging disk but turning back on the vm it did not start due to missing OS ; I think I erased something using those commands in the wrong way so I ended creating a fresh new vm and importing the zip backup I had from the internal backup system. Thanks anyway for helping
