Hello,

I have 2 extensions 101 and 102 in the same office, I want to create an extension group 700 so when I call to this extension both numbers ring. At the same time, when calling from 101 or 102, I want the extension 700 to be displayed on the receiving phone.

How it is possible to achieve this.

Regards

Use a ring group, point the inbound rule to it, and enable "Advanced -> Contacts -> Options -> Append/Prepend Rule, Group or Queue Name".

It should do what you need it to.

Hello,

Thank you for the reply

The extension 700 is configured in Ring Groups. When calling the number 700, the extensions 101 and 102 ring simultaneously, but when calling from 101, the number 101 is displaying on the receiver phone, same for 102.

In advanced, contact, options, the settings are as follow

Match Caller ID to a contact entry

Do not match
Match exactly
Match at least X number of characters

Phonebook display

Configure how to display and sort company phonebook entries on your IP Phones
First Name, Last Name
Last Name, First Name

Add Group, Queue or DID/DDI Names to Caller ID

Do not add
Append Name
Prepend Name

Should, I create a contact here?

You cannot have the user call "as a ring group". It will always show the extension number except for external calls.

For those external calls, use the Outbound Caller ID in the extension.

This doesn't fulfill my requirement. In fact I want to group multiple extensions under 1 number and make all inbound/outbound and internal calls go through this number in order to connect with these extensions.
Since it is possible with other free ipbx system, I was wondering how it is managed by 3cx, specially that in 3cx it has Hotel PMS compatibilities and in hotel 1 room can have multiple extensions acting as 1 number but in fact it is multiple extensions.

Thank you

Well, no you can't do that in 3CX.

I'd stick to FreePBX if that's a requirement.
