Hello Android Users

Last month, we announced a Beta of the new Android app https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/android-beta-call-encryption/. We are currently on the verge of releasing another beta which caters for some important issues like exit without push and the problem with unanswered Push Calls.
If all goes well the final build will follow and will be published on the Play Store overwriting the previous 3CX App.

Lets take a moment to communicate some items prior to the release date. Feel free to post comments below.

1. The new Android Client works only with 3CX Phone System Version 16 update 3. Which means that you need to pay tribute to your old install, thank it for the work it has done, and start preparations to update to Version 16.
You can update your 3CX install by following this link which explains how to update both Windows and Linux installs. Essentially if you are running Linux, you can simply go to the updates section in the Management Console and update from there. Windows requires you to take a backup, uninstall 3CX, download the latest version and reinstall. You will be prompted to restore the backup in the Wizard section post install.

2. A short note on Maintenance expiration
I am not very keen on this subject because normally, when you depend on a software to run your operations, maintenance or the lack of, should not be a discussion.
But some users let the maintenance expire. Fair enough. So please be informed that 3CX updates, depend on having a license with valid Maintenance.
If your maintenance has expired, you need to renew it - https://www.3cx.com/ordering/pricing/3cx-maintenance/. Contact your partner / reseller and get to know your options. There are some generous trade in license key plans for those that have forgotten about their maintenance.

3. If you are not ready / willing to update your PBX, then make sure that you turn off Auto updates for 3CX app inside your Android smartphone.
To disable Auto Updates just for 3CX do the following:
  • Open Google Play Store App on your device
  • Tap on Burger Menu option on the top left corner of the screen
  • Tap on My Apps and Games
  • Under Installed Tab, tap on 3CX
  • Tap the More option on the top right corner of the App Home Screen.
  • Uncheck ‘Enable Auto update‘ option on the prompt
4. The new client supports Android OS 7 and above. Which means that any Android Smartphone with an operating system version less than 7, will not be compatible.
Users that have old phones, will not be prompted for an update. 3CX Google Play Store will not push updates to smartphones that are not supported. Play Store mirroring will not work ;) so do not bother going through this hassle.

5. Finally, we would like to invite you to our Beta testing Program. Simply click on this link and register your Google Account / Email address.
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.tcx.sipphone14
After this, you can go to the Play store and you will be offered beta updates for you to try out.

We will be posting news regularly informing you about the status of the app.

Just a question: for what update is the Outbound Caller ID manipulation scheduled?

you can stay on the next update for the Android beta and dont need to switch back. When we make this build final, then there is a needed dependency to the PBX which makes it then incompatible to an older version. There will be a month which gives our customers the time to go to v16 U3 and then "we unleash" the client and give it all the new benefits to utilize from U3.

This feature is currently Postponed - Chances are it will not come in this year.. So do not depend on it for now. But design work has been done so it is something we will ship at some point. Other more important things pushed this further away. Thank you

@everyone - Production version released.

Hi,
Just small thing , new Android App has a "ready for calls" in top right corner not translated into French . Same in Accounts, there is a blue "MANAGE ACCOUNT" displayed.

if this can be updated in future version
