How to reset Root Password in V20

Hi,

how can I reset the root password in Version 20?
Here in this german guide for version 18 is it verry easy: https://www.3cx.de/docs/pbx-sicherheit-zugangsdaten/
But how can I do it with Version 20?

In V20 the admin credentials are no longer available.
You need to login the credentials of the assigned System Owner extension.

Thanks. I already tried to connect with ssh to my 3cx with user root and the extension number of the system owner. For password I used the password from the system owner. But I can´t Login in debian system. Do you have an Idea?

The SSH root password has nothing to do with the PBX users or passwords, the root user password was set on install of the Debian server install, you should have saved it some place safe. If you have not and can't remember you would need to reinstall from 3cx iso. As for the PBX System Owner extension that is another mater, you can use the extension or email but you will need the password.

Am having the same question at the moment. I upgraded and do still have the root password assigned during the installation of v20 for Linux.

However best practice would be to change it from time to time. Same with the Administrator password on a Windows server.

How are we supposed to do that on v20 on Linux? Straightforward and change it using passwd after logging on?

Will make a backup and try it and update this thread.

Still works. If you can login with the system owner extension you could create a backup and reinstall + restore (on a different system or virtual machine).

Works quite well, I just did it twice in a row from v18 (vmware) -> v18 (hyper-v) and after an upgrade to v20 I went v20 (BIOS) -> v20 (UEFI) to support Secure Boot in Hyper-V.

I booted a parallel Linux and reset my password. So my question is solved.
