Hi,

I'm currently working with 3CX v20 and have softphones installed in hotel rooms that are configured with speed dial buttons. These buttons are programmed to dial *101, *102, and *103 only.

The goal is to route these codes to internal extensions:

  • *101 → Reception (e.g., extension 100)
  • *102 → Spa (e.g., extension 200)
  • *103 → F&B (e.g., extension 300)

When the softphones dial these codes, 3CX logs show that the call reaches the system but returns “Number not found”.

I tried creating Outbound Rules to match *101 and strip/replace it with the correct extension (e.g., 100), but outbound rules only allow routing through SIP trunks — there’s no option to route internally.

I’m looking for a proper method in 3CX v20 to internally route custom dial codes like *101 to existing extensions. Ideally, I’d like to keep using these speed dial codes from the room devices without changing their configuration.

Is there a supported way to achieve this internal mapping in 3CX v20?

Thanks in advance!

Simply basic call script for each. That would be the easiest.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

Is there any scripts that i can use to achieve this? Or anywhere i can look for these scripts?

You can create that easily using the Call Flow Designer, use a Transfert component only, then use the generated C# in 3CX > Integration > Call Scripts > Add Custom, choose "when user dials dialcode", and enter the "*100" for example, click OK, paste the C# and save. Repeat for all speed dials.

If all else fails, you can create a loop trunk in the outbound rules and send the call right back into 3CX. Simply make the trunk destination 127.0.0.1. May not be the best solution, but can be done. It also uses two licences per call, so .....
