This is a yealink handset.

What happens if you dial *5 followed by the number

*5 blocks the caller id on that call.

If the same, if may be down to your sip provider not allowing anonymous calls

Which SIP provider

In the article that @Saqqara shared with you, it says "First of all, you will need to ensure that your VoIP provider supports the CLIR (Calling Line Identification Restriction) feature i.e calling in anonymous."

Since this caused beeping, then your provider probably does not allow you to call with anonymous. You should contact them and ask them if they allow it, and if they do, to tell you how to enable it.

For my customer, dialling *5 followed by the number works, but they want to permanently block the number. How is that done?
I've tried to erase the number, but that isn't allowed by my provider, while dialling *5 with the number erased does work.
So: how to automatically dial *5 before each number?
