Hello,

We use v18 on-prem here, and I set up a call-in line for anonymous reporting. However, I did not get the piece working yet where calls (from the outside) remove the caller ID from the voicemail message. If the inbound caller ID could be removed from logging would be fine but not a requirement.

I saw this (https://www.3cx.com/docs/cid-reformatting/) but it that's too heavy-handed - I do not want to remove inbound caller ID from all inbound calls. What is the method for removing inbound caller ID for just 1 line?

Thanks for your thoughts!

hi there.
So in your case, you only want to reformat that number that is landed to a specific DID and not the whole trunk in the Phonesystem?

Thanks for reading and understanding my question! Yes - that is correct.

The Caller ID reformatting is only done at the trunk level so it would be an all-or-nothing operation.

What you could do is see if your provider supports multiple logins from the same IP, and have a separate SIP Trunk just for that particular service.

Alternatively, you could consult with your SIP Provider if they have the capability of anonymizing the number either for that particular DID or for the separate trunk. The best practice for this would be for the PBX to receive the totally anonymous number from the provider itself.

That way everything will be anonymized, including any voicemail messages.

That's a good idea - thank you. I will try that.
