I am getting these emails: Action Required: Upgrade Your NFRs to 3CX Version 20 by October 1st 2024

I see my NFRs are V20, but I do have 2 licenses I purchased for future customers. They are not installed, but say V18.

Is there something I must do to avoid losing these that i already paid for? The email also states this: If you fail to do so, your NFR keys will expire and your system will lose functionality

I also received the same email, and my keys are also on V20. It's likely a generic email sent to all partners, regardless of whether it's already done or not.

Agree the email didn't seem to be limited to v18 installs. It was the same with emails about upgrading to v18u9 this summer.

AFAIK all not-installed keys currently show v18.

As far as I am aware, we've never used our NFR keys. They are listed as Self Hosted. We've received the email which says upgrade or you will lose your keys. Do we need to take any action?

Why you dont use your nfr keys?? Yes, you have to upgrade to v20.

How? The screenshot is what I receive when I hit upgrade... it says I can't! :)

AFAIK all not-installed keys currently show v18. If you install your NFR and activate the key on v20 it will show v20.

The question is, are unactivated NFRs removed?

Edit: you "can't upgrade your NFR to a higher level SC" is what that means.

"The question is, are unactivated NFRs removed?"
This absolutely is the question - 100%
Thanks Steve.

I emailed our rep but he's out until tomorrow.

TIA for posting the reply here! ;)

We've had our main NFR for years but haven't activated the secondary.
And we don't use our NFR because we need more SC that the NFR provides.

Main for our 3cx and the second for our testing environment. Thats how we are using our nfrs

Why are you even asking? Just proceed. It's much quicker to act than to ask.
Is your NFR system on V18? Upgrade it.

For those who haven't installed their NFR yet, install it! It only takes a few minutes.
Has everyone already installed a 3CX PBX? If not, I encourage you to learn — it's part of your role as a partner.

This reminds me of my 8-year-old daughter... when I tell her not to wander too far from the house, she asks if 250 meters is far, and if 250 meters isn’t considered far, then is 500 meters far? And if 500 meters isn't considered far, then is...

I tell her, "Stop pushing the limits, it's not complicated. Stay close. If you're asking yourself 'Is this far?' then the answer is probably yes!"

---

So, I’ll give you the same advice I give my 8-year-old daughter: :p
If you think your NFR license might be deleted, assume that yes, it will be removed from your account with no way to recover it. Now you know the worst-case scenario. Are your licenses worth a few minutes of your time to install or update?

The screenshot you shared indicates that you're trying to upgrade the license. NFR cannot be upgraded or paid for as it is provided free of charge to you as a 3CX partner.

The email about updating NFRs is related to system updates. You may check the below links for more details:

If you are not using your NFR licenses and you decide to install the system, the installation will start in v20.

We also highly recommend checking your partner portal dashboard and ensuring that your customers' systems are up to date: Support Changes for 3CX V18 Users

Thanks Irina, sounds like the NFR keys won't be removed then, that's good. Technically our secondary key says v16! We've just been holding it in case we ever need a demo or testbed or similar.

re: portal, we only have one outdated (partner forum link), which like those is a 3CX hosted Free, not upgradable.

Just to post it, our rep replied today that "any NFR keys that are not activated would not be affected."

I guess I technically didn't ask about purchased keys but I would think those are also unaffected.
