If an extension is busy, when prompt busy, when transfer to voicemail (of the busy extension)

How it´s works now:
A calls B, B is busy, A will be transfered to voicemail. A dosen´t know if B is busy or just not picking up the phone.
  • Play Busy prompt when extension is busy (is checked)
  • Accept multiple calls (is not checked)

Is´t posible to prompt an extension is busy, and when transfer the call to voicemail?

How it should works:
A calls B, B is busy, A will be prompt ”B is busy” when transfered to voicemail.

No this is not possible..... You have to accept the standard way it works.... (like all pbx)

It´s posible on other PBX-solutions!

Yes, it is possible we need to use simple CFD to achieve this function..

If have just installed CFDs and I will look into the options. THX

CFD will not intercept a call. You can only direct calls to it.

In your case, IVR is the way to go, then program the extension to forward on-busy to that IVR. That IVR can play whatever prompt you need.

Actually, you should be able to do this or at least achieve very similar behavior using the CFD. @Frederick Marcoux is right to say that the CFD does not intercept calls, but you could possibly have the call transferred to the CFD to play the prompt and then have the CFD transfer the call back to the extension's voicemail. Using an IVR on the other hand would mean that you would need an IVR for every extension. Provided of course that having all calls transferred to the same voicemail is not an option.

I would suggest heading over to the CFD section to post about this.

How? The CFD can't intercept calls, and if he does a forward, it bypasses the voicemail.

Any idea how you would do it?

@Frederick Marcoux

You are right, the CFD can't intercept the call per se, but the call can be transferred to it. A very simplified call flow would be something like:

1. Busy Extension A receives second call from Extension B.
2. Forwarding Rule sends call to Call Flow App.
3. Call Flow App plays a generic Busy Prompt.
4. Call Flow App then sends call(Extension B) to the Voicemail of the transferring extension which in this case is Extension A.

That can cause flow issues but yeah, it could work.

However, if the person is unavailable or offline, you'll get the same prompt unless you use different statuses.

Could work, but has to be done the right way.

A (A is always external) calls B (is always the called party) by a DID number, B is busy, and A should be prompted "Number is busy" and the call should be transfered to the voicemail.

Internal users can see the status, so it´s only incoming external call

Since the callee is always the same (Extension B), it would probably be best to use an IVR as @Frederick Marcoux said. Just create an IVR, have it play a Busy Prompt and then set it to then forward calls to Extension's B Voicemail. Then set Extension's B Forwarding Rule when Available and Busy/Unregistered to route calls to that IVR. Just bear in mind that when Extension B is unregistered, you will end up with the same routing behavior.

Note: I recommend using a DTMF IVR instead of Standard so that callers cannot use the Extension direct dial feature while in the IVR.

Extension B is not always Ext235, Extension B is also Ext236, Ext237 ect.

A is caller
B is the extension there recipient the call
C is the extension the call will be transfert to

That’s how we talk telephony ;-)

Well in that case, first do note that, as @Nick Galea initially said, this will not work out of the box. However, depending on the scenario, there is a chance you might be able to get similar behavior to what you are looking for by using the CFD. For more information on that, consider posting in the CFD section and make sure to describe the scenario in detail: https://www.3cx.com/community/forums/call-flow-designer.63/

If it is deemed possible and you then need additional assistance, you might also want to consider contacting one of our 3CX Partners: https://www.3cx.com/ordering/find-reseller/
