inbound did rules

Im my test environment i registered a SIP Trunk
then created a DID 555-1234 inbound rule for the first DID 555-1234 in the block.
IT works as intended.
I created a second DID 555-1235 on the same sip trunk but did not create a rule for it and it routes it based on the first DID rules.

So my question is how exactly do did rules work/filter?
does it go down the DIDs first then based on trunk?

If there is no rules specific for the DID, the call will be routed to the destination selected in the trunk settings. Those are like fallback settings.

Can you let us know what exactly you set in your first inbound rule?

IF rule you set is for one DID then it should not apply to others numbers and so not follow same forwarding as explained by Frederick

When you have a single trunk the system will attempt to send it to the destination of the main trunk so you don't lose the call acting like, a catch-all.

It's best to set up a rule for each DID of course so you can send the call to wherever you want it to be going for custom call routing (ie. time based etc).

Frederick Marcoux was exactly right i didn't see the trunk had rules of its own. I'm in the middle of testing/migrating over to 3cx so its my first time with 3cx.

You will also notice that the trunk's own rules will be reflected in the Inbound DID rule if you make changes to it (main trunk number only)
