I have purchased two new computers, one is made by zotac and one is acer x series. Both computers fail with the installation because of usb drivers for Anaconda (Cent os). These are new computers and one was tried with usb media that does boot so I didn't understand why it wouldn't work. The Acer would boot the DVD and then Anaconda would lock up the keyboardright after it loads the usb driver. The keyboard would not respond after that.

I tried a second download and burned the DVD slower. Still no usb drivers.

Also tried an install on older computer and it worked. Centos had a lot of user comments about this. It is a killer for newer machines. Had to go to Asterisk Now.

Has anyone found a solution for this?

rnrover,

Unless someone has been using those computers, you may not receive a reply....

Whilst the general design of computers are the same, the chipsets, particularly for the peripherals differ greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. Along with that come the different drivers to get them to work.

Some computers have the ability via the BIOS to dumb down the Hard drive controller e.g. from enhanced to compatible mode, some have the ability to set to legacy USB. If you have the ability to turn off USB3, thats another possibility....for a PBX, you don't need all the bells and whistles on...

Another test I do is get a Centos 5.9 disk (you only need the Net install or similar - e.g. you don't need the 5 disk set).....and see if that works on your computer....this might provide a clearer idea....

Otherwise this is part of the reason why Elastix is heading to Centos 7. They recently did some crowdsourcing of funds to get it to Centos 7 - it is not an easy step, but it is coming....from indications they were talking about June....this will help remove some of these incompatibilities....

Regards

Bob
