Many people using the self-hosted open-source version of Vtiger CRM may be familiar with this issue. The latest version is v8.2.

The integration with 3CX worked flawlessly for me for many years, but it stopped working some time ago. In this forum, I came across a note stating that Vtiger had contacted 3CX and requested that the integration be switched from Web API to REST API.

Unfortunately, the REST API is only supported in the commercial cloud-based version v9 of Vtiger, meaning that everyone using Vtiger as open-source was essentially cut off.

Regrettably, 3CX did not simply retain the old template for users of the open-source version of Vtiger 8 but instead deleted it and replaced it with a REST API that only supports the paid version of Vtiger.

Thankfully, someone in another thread uploaded an old Vtiger template with Web API for 3CX, noting that it still needs some adjustments.

Since there were several questions about how to adjust it, but the thread was closed, I want to explain here what needs to be done—it's not much:
  1. Give the template a different file name!
  2. In line 2 of the template, there's a parameter at the end labeled "Name="—you should change this to a different name, as this will be the name under which it appears in 3CX.
And that's basically it.

I uploaded the template to an AI and asked it to expand it to search not only for Contacts and Organizations but also for Leads—because that's what the new Vtiger template for 3CX does as well. The AI integrated it perfectly.

Therefore, I'm attaching this version to this thread. Please: Review the template before using it. It works for me, but I can't guarantee that it will work for you.

Best regards,

Kai

Let me get on my PC, I got an old version of the webservice template. You'll need to adjust it for v18/v20 but it should work if adjusted correctly.

That old version will work for contact lookup and call journaling. But there were other features added later to 3CX, like lookup by email, chat journaling, contact creation from the web client, just to name a few. So that template will need significant amount of work to be fully compatible with v20. It's a start though, and useful for many users that just need contact lookup and call journaling.
