Wondering what I'm missing. We have Yealink T46G and T54W phones.

Goal: use regular BLF buttons for normal BLF including green/red status indicator... and have a separate button hold the *9 dial code for Intercom calls. If a user wants to intercom (with auto answer) to another user, they can push the Intercom button plus the BLF key. Two button pushes which should combine *9<blf> to send the intercom call. But this combination of keys does not work - "your call cannot be completed".

Pressing *910# to intercom call to x10 works fine, with auto answer at the x10 end. But pressing the button for *9 plus the BLF key for x10 does not work.

Does anyone know if the phone itself needs a special setting to enable this?
TIA.

Hello,

I don't think you are missing anything. By default, this cannot be done, as each key will execute its own function and each phone manufacturer might treat it differently so expect some variability across the board.

You might find more info though if you dig through the Yealink Administrator Guide.

Thanks. Well, I did this 3 years ago when we were using 3CX v16 on an inhouse server. I know it can be done - or, at least, it used to be possible - I just don't remember the exact configuration.

I realized that I have the old custom template saved in a txt file. Here's what I used to use in the custom template:
{IF ua=SIP-T29G,SIP-T46G,SIP-T46S}
#Expansion module1 key1
expansion_module.1.key.1.type = 40
expansion_module.1.key.1.line = 1
expansion_module.1.key.1.value = *9
expansion_module.1.key.1.pickup_value =
expansion_module.1.key.1.label = INTERCOM
expansion_module.1.key.1.extension =
expansion_module.1.key.1.xml_phonebook =

So the key here seems to be the key type of 40, which appears to be a Prefix. My attempt today was entering the *9 as a Custom Speed Dial, so that makes sense that it wouldn't work if the *9 needs to be entered as a prefix.
So I believe my next question is - is entering a Prefix key possible in 3CX hosted? I don't believe I'm able to do a custom template if we're on 3CX hosted.

Ah in this case I'm afraid not, 3CX hosted instances have some limitations, and custom templates are not possible.
