Hi,

We are having these intermittent issue where in all the windows clients in the LAN aren't able to contact our 3cx server, but all the IP phones are able to.
IP phones get registered but all the windows clients fails to register.
During this, the 3cx server wont be able to contact our mail server, and hence when we do the email test, it also fails and gives the error "Ensure that Port 587 TCP is open for outbound traffic"

The issue resolves itself after sometime.
Has anybody faced this issue? If so, can someone shed some light on this?

Thank you.

Hi techdummy,

Do you have split DNS? you might want to double check what you have selected under Extension settings--> Phone provisioning--> "Network interface for registration and provisioning"

Hi @roland_3CX yes, we do have split DNS.
The Network interface selected is same for both Ip Phone and windows client.

Hi techdummy,

Are the IP Phones and clients in the same VLAN?

The 3CX server, is it Debian or Windows , virtual machine

Can you access the 3CX server during the issues ?

Have you tried changing network equipment i.e. cable, network switch etc.

@roland_3CX I had a check on it and they are in 2 different LAN's.

@Saqqara 3cx server is Windows on HP server.
I haven't tried changing the network equipments.

Since the phones and systems are on different LAN, I believe it would have something to do with one of the LAN's because all the windows clients got effected.

But I still am not able to figure out why the 3cx server wasnt able to contact our mail server.
Error was "Ensure that Port 587 TCP is open for outbound traffic".
All this happened at the same time, and all these issues got resolved on its own.
Any ideas?

Also, is it possible to set alerts for a single extension incase the extension fails to register?
I know there is an option to set alerts when the registration status changes, which will be applicable for all the extensions. I want to know if there is an option to set this for a single extension.

Hello techdummy,

Glad to see that you have resolved the issue. If you experience this again, I would suggest to open a ticket with 3CX support so that they can further look into the intermittent issue with the client.

As for the alert "registration status change". You are correct. It is applicable for all extension. You could post your idea on https://www.3cx.com/community/forums/3cx-ideas/ . All posts are reviewed by their corresponding departments and if feasible and voted for by other users as well, may be implemented in an upcoming service pack / update.

The issue resolved on its own, I had mentioned that in the original post.
The reason I posted this here is to know whether anyone has experienced this before, and if yes, what can be done to make sure that this doesn't happen again.
Unfortunately nobody was able to help as of yet.
Anyway thanks.
