iPhone without STUN

I've got a system setup to work without STUN. This has made things much more reliable but I can't figure out how to make either Acrobits or iSip VOIP applications work on the iPhone.

Has anyone else done this and have any advice on setting up one or both of these applications?

Hi,

If you follow the tutorial http://www.3cx.com/blog/docs/iphone-extension/ then it should work for Acrobits on the iPhone.

Right. I've actually used that tutorial in the past and it worked once or twice but I never reliably had two way audio. The problem now is that I don't have STUN and the tutorial relies on it.

My understanding of the minutia of extension setup is week so I was hoping someone else had done what I need to do.

As far as I know you need STUN because if you don’t use it you can have issues like one-way-audio or other firewall/router issues.
If your 3CX PhoneSystem is not behind a firewall/router you don’t have to use STUN, but for remote extension you always have to use STUN.

I have found this at the Acrobits site http://www.acrobits.cz/
Q: When I receive calls, I have no incoming audio. What’s wrong?
A: This often means you need to use a STUN Server or NAT proxy. You can enter these in the advanced settings for your SIP Account.

Hi,

THings to remember about stun:

1. If your on a static IP, remove stun
2. If you think your mobile provider provides a good network where you can be stunless, then your probably very mistaken
3. Just because your PBX is stunless does not mean everything else should be stunless. Stun resolves your external IP in the weirdest network configurations, and with a lot of constant changes.

Acrobits requires stun, I use it and I cannot get it to work without stun.
