Solved Issue installing on intel NUC8i3BEK (no ethernet detected)

Hi,

Has anyone had luck installing on the intel NUC8i3BEK? I've tried on the official 3CX debian iso and PBXinaflash but I keep getting "No Ethernet card was detected". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

nothing in bios to disable the nic card?

otherwise did you try to boot with other live cd to check if NIC is seen with driver working?

W10 is producing same problem?

The only thing I disabled was WLAN and BlueTooth. I don't want to install Windows 10, only Linux Debian version of 3CX. I'm going to try the DVD iso instead of netinstall.

I never asked you to instal W10, just a try with live cd to have a check if NIC driver is working no more , no less.

if none of OS you can try is able to have nic working, perhaps it's just faulty hardware?

I have a NUC8i5BEK. Debian did not detect the embedded NIC. I used a USB to ethernet adapter, which was detected, to allow me to set things up. I found the correct driver for the embedded NIC here:

I downloaded the "complete driver pack" which includes the linux drivers. The e1000e-3.4.2.3 driver is the one I used. I followed the steps in the associated readme file and it has been working great.

After downloading the .zip file, go to the PRO1000/LINUX folder where you will see the e1000e-3.4.2.4.tar.gz archive. This has the driver and readme file in it.

Actually, that's where I'm at right now but I'm stuck on how to install the driver.

Please try install Debian 9.2.1 (Stretch) first and then upgrade to the latest version.

You probably want to try the Debian forums and 3CX doesn't provide linux drives and this is a hardware compatibility issue with Debian.

the NIC chip seems to be very new and is not part of Debian 9 as you can see from this Debian Forum: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=137303

Debian 10 - Buster - looks to have the drive build in. Works on Debian 10 have been started at 3CX, so maybe in the near future you can use the NUC with Debian 10 without "modding" the drivers.
