Hello,

We are currently using the native SMS functionality within 3CX to enable users to send and receive SMS messages through their assigned virtual mobile numbers, with all messaging managed centrally within the 3CX platform.

One issue we have recently encountered is that SMS verification codes (for example, one-time passcodes used for two-factor authentication) are not being received by these virtual mobile numbers when routed through 3CX.

We operate another solution using Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC), where verification codes are received without issue, which suggests this may be related to the way the virtual numbers are provisioned or how certain message types are handled.

For context, our virtual mobile numbers are hosted via Telin, which I understand uses Twilio in the background.

Has anyone experienced similar behaviour with 3CX and virtual mobile numbers? If so, were you able to identify the cause or implement a solution to ensure verification codes are delivered successfully?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

3CX is just the "dumb" pipe here. You need to see if Twilio is getting these messages first, and if so, if they send them to 3CX.

There is a flag on a number if it's a true mobile number or not. Some places will not send SMS if the number isn't flagged as mobile, as they are trying to ensure it's an actual phone and not some virtual system.
