Hi all!

I have an issue with a 3CX PBX, where we changed the SIP Trunk and now I can receive calls, but can't place outbound calls. The provider says that the calls not even reaching their server. The Outbound rules are configured to use the new Trunk.

Any ideas what could be wrong on the PBX and not being able to place outbound calls?

Thanks a lot in advance for your support!

The first place to check would be your event log to see what error is given by the system.

This could be many things which your description is very vague.

I just got the information from Placetel that 3CX uses wrong password for INVITE authentication.

How could I change the password for INVITE authentication. Isn't it just the password I put in the Trunk, under the main tab "General"?

Hi @NicholasP_3CX,

Thanks a lot for your answer. There is nothing wrong in the Event logs. In only see that:
Trunk L:10001(Placetel) has changed status to registered.

As a side information, I checked also that when a user is trying to place a call, I see in the "Call Reports" the following:
No Route Exists

Which is really strange, since I have configured the outbound rules propery, in order to use the new SIP Trunk.

That generally is the case. I would double check with the provider which password they have and if the information is the same.

Create a new rule with the provider and put it right at the top. Define just your extension to use it and see if outgoing calls from your extension go out.

Check also that your provider is actually registered, because if youre getting a mismatch in the authentication of the INVITE, it would be safe to assume that the REGISTER is also failing.

If this is an IP based provider this would always show as green.

This is not a supported provider so we wouldnt be aware of their capabilities and functionalities. You will have to work with them to see what is being sent.

@apitsos - can you verify that you have enabled outbound calls in the Trunk > options menu?

HI @NicholasP_3CX,

Thank you very much for trying to help me here.

The registration is in place, since they get incoming calls from outside.

On one of Placetel's guides (https://www.placetel.de/hilfe/sip-trunking/sip-trunking-3cx) I noticed that the Auth-ID should be configured here: FROM : User Part

Unfortunately I can't find these settings on V20. Are they moved somewhere else?

The templates are found here:

This is why we always recommend supported providers. All this leg work has been done prior, making it easier for you to configure them.

Problem solved!

I had to export the template, make the necessary change on the line...
<field name="ParameterOut" custom="" parameter="FromUserPart">$AuthID</field>
...save it, import it again and re-create the trunk. Of course reconfiguring all the DIDs again.

Thank you all for your help and your support.
