I have a situation where I really need 2 SBC's on the same LAN.

I have one user that physically has 2 Yealink phones on her desk. One is connected to one 3CX PBX located on the same LAN. The other is connected to another 3CX PBX located at another office. There are two different companies using the same accounting person.

Right now, both phones are setup for Local LAN provisioning
Phone 1 is connected to the local 3CX PBX
Phone 2 is connected to the remote 3CX PBX using Local LAN provisioning since the two locations are connected by Site-to-Site VPN communications. Has worked a long time. Initially setup this way because the original phone was an old Cisco that would only connect using LAN. The phone has now been replaced with a new Yealink.

I am planning on moving both of the 3CX systems to cloud hosted service which will require 2 SBC's to be installed at this location. I know that 2 SBC's can physically be installed at this location. I know when a new phone is plugged in, it will probably connect to the first SBC it finds. I know that any additional phones added to either system at this location will require manual initial provisioning to tell the phone which SBC to use. My question is are there any other issues that I am not aware of?

The phones will only see the sbc server which is on the same network, will each phone network be on a separate IP address range

That is what I was hoping for.

Location 1 already has a 3CX PBX installed. Can I go ahead an install the local SBC for that system? Will the local SBC and the local PBX have an issue? If not, then I can go ahead and do the complete SBC provisioning for all the phones and then move the PBX to the cloud and everything should auto reconnect.

The phones will broadcast via multicast and be seen by any SBC on the network.

If you want to automate the setup you would utilise option 66 in DHCP and specify the SBC under the phone provisioning tab.

No, you can run the SBC and PBX on the same LAN.

Hello,

I know when a new phone is plugged in, it will probably connect to the first SBC it finds.

It will not connect anywhere. The phone does not know of any SBC or any PBX when you first reset it - it's completely agnostic.

If you have 2 SBCs on the same LAN (with each one belonging to a different PBX) the phone will appear as new in both systems.

You now have the choice:

- Decide which PBX to assign it to via its respective management console.

- Obviously, don't go and assign it on both, make sure you tell your phones apart by MAC address so you can assign the right one to the right user, on the right PBX.
