This should be updated to recommend using the SSH port for encryption as using port 873 does not cause rsyncd to encrypt in transit unlike tunneling over an SSH connection.

This is already described in the post's last section "Opening Your Rsync Server to the Internet", with an example to use rsync over SSH for encrypted transfers.
