For speed of search, I usually use partial search terms such as the last two letters of the first name and first two letters of the last name. This works really well on the legacy desktop app. However, the PWA and Electron apps use a different search algorithm that omits some (but not all) known matches when using this approach. This makes the PWA and Electron apps unusable, so we have to keep using the legacy desktop app - it also omits some known matches, but it's better than the PWA and Electron apps.

For example, the 12 results for a search for "id mu" include David Munt, David Mulrenan, a Deidre at a company with Communications in their name and someone called Muggeridge. But the results do not include David Murdoch even though he is a better match than the last two.

Is it worth raising a bug report? Is there even a way to do that?
