In an effort to potentially help others not spin their wheels I have found an issue with the 3CX version of firmware Yealink developed for the W60P base and W56H handset. The latest version specifically for 3CX installs is posted at 3CX Solution_3CX_Products (yealink.com) and displays these versions
W60B-77.85.0.20
W56H-61.85.0.20
After a day of frustration it turns out that this firmware does not function properly. The biggest issue is that the handsets 90% of the time never ring, the call shows up on the display as coming in and you can answer it successfully but generally it never rings. Voice quality was spotty as well, it would cut in and out at times.
I stepped back to W60B-77.83.0.85 and W56H-61.83.0.50 and everything works as expected. Inbound calls ring the handset each and every time and the calls are clear with no issues.
I might be missing something but in reading many forum posts plus the 3CX web site the only recommendation was to use the latest firmware for this wireless IP phone. When a firmware is posted as for 3CX I would take it that it has been tested but apparently this one wasn't. Hope this saves others the grief of finding this out the hard way.
