Hello All,

This is my first time posting here, I am hoping you can help me...

We are running a few FreePBX servers and started testing the latest 3cx system, if this works we would migrate over.

We have a server at a datacenter running: 3cx version: 16.0.611 with a public IP address and configured with FQDM.

At the remote office we are testing with an Astra 55i with the recommended FW version. (This is the phones currently working with our FreePBX servers). The idea is to upgrade, but for now this is what we have.

We have set up Option 66 on the office Dream Machine PRO and we see the phone getting the correct DHCP options from the DHCP server, whenever we navigate on the phones settings into the HTTP settings, they are there pointing to the provisioning URL that 3cx server provided us when creating the extension.

On the office local pc we tested the connectivity to the 3cx server from the command prompt we run:

telnet server ip 5000

and the server responds, meaning there isn't any firewall blocking the connection to port 5000.

I also unchecked under extension -> options: "Disallow use of extension outside the LAN (Remote extensions using Direct SIP or STUN will be blocked)"

Any ideas as to why our phones are not registering? Also does this have a cli like the asterisk on freepbx? Or is it all GUI based?

Thank you in advanced for any suggestions.

So I didn't see VPN anywhere, do you have one in place? Port 5000 is restricted to local (private) IP ranges only. If you are accessing via public IP it won't provision.

You didn't mention following the guide so I'll link it here:

Hello! Thank you for your response.

No, I do not have any VPN in between the server and the office.

I am just trying to register the phone directly to the provisioning URL:

http://IPADDRESSOFSERVER:5000/provisioning/wqn5f382si2y6g
http://FQDM:5000/provisioning/wqn5f382si2y6g

But now that you mentioned it, right above the provisioning URL it says: Local LAN (In the office).

Yes I followed all of the instructions on the guide, but it won't register because the server is not in the local LAN, it is on the server at the DC.

Is there a way I would be able to accomplish this without a VPN?

Again, thank you.

After going over the guide again, I read to the end and it mentions the limitations:

Limitations
Note that these phones can not be used from a remote location or in combination with a 3CX in the cloud.

Known limitations of Aastra 6751i, 6753i, 6755i, 6757i, 6730i, 6731i, 6739i are:

  • No PnP Support - You can only provision these phones as per this guide.
  • No STUN Support - This phone can not be used in a remote location.
I guess there is my answer...

So provisioning and registering are two different things. Neither is 3CX supported for those phones but you can do it manually.
