I saw a post from @checkinyyz late in November 2018. They had used PBX Express to build an instance in Amazon Lightsail and were trying to give the instance a friendy name (by default it has a name like amzls-custom-eu-west.....). I appreciate I can put a bit more effort in and build a machine from scratch, but if I can just rename the instance then this could be easy.

I have tried the same thing they did, namely took a snapshot (after the initial build completed) of the 3cx instance and then created a new instance from the snapshot. I then attached the same static IP to the new instance.

The new instance boots OK and is listening on TCP/443, but when I try to load the web interface with a browser it just times out (exactly like @checkinyyz reported). Others suggested stopping/starting the 3cx services, so I ran 3CXStopServices then 3CXStartServices, but still the same issue. I saw someone else say just reboot the instance, but that doesn't appear to make any difference.

I wondered if anyone has successfully restored a Amazon Lightsail snapshot, or is the case that you must use the 3cx backup/restore tool and create a brand new instance each time?

Cheers,

I believe the snapshot is just the image. You probably need to recreate all the firewall rules.

Thanks very much, I couldn't see the woods for the trees, I was checking the IP Tables rule but skipped the Lightsail rules.
