Hi All

Trust everyone is well ?

I would just like to know please if it is possible to limit all outgoing calls to the contacts list only.
in short, the client only wants extensions to be able to dial via the contacts list... no other outbound calls allowed unless specifically specified.

Surely one doesn't have to create an outbound rule for all the numbers in the contacts list.

Thanks
Regards

I'm afraid this is not possible to do without the use of Outbound Rules as there is no built-in way to limit calls only to the numbers in the contact list.

You could potentially get similar results by using the CFD. For instance, you could do something like block all for all extensions and then have the users call the CFD extension, enter the number they want to dial, and then have that number checked against a list in order to determine whether the call will be blocked or allowed.

We have a CFD section where you could post about this and hopefully get additional information.

You may want to look at our 3CX Do Not Call tool. It supports a "white list" feature that effectively blocks all calls NOT in the list. We would need to look at how to synchronize the 3CX Contacts with the white list, but I think this is a workable solution.

currently we have a POC (proof of concept) in place for the client.
if they choose to proceed, they will at some point be wanting to synchronize the contacts list with an SQL server to minimize maintenance and potential problems, this is also on a Linux hosted platform and not a localized solution.
the aim is to minimize complexity as they will be assigning a staff member to do basic maintenance... hence the CFD option although it might work... i don't think it will be a viable option in this case.

there will be roughly 6-7 hundred extensions with roughly 1,5 - 2 thousand entries in the contacts list.

This does not seem to be possible to achieve with 3CX, especially if using 3CX Clients that allows users to add contact entries so it beats the purpose entirely.

EDIT: Though you can actually prevent users from adding contacts by removing the "Can manage the company phonebook" right.

We can help you maintain the 3CX contact list in SQL, and block people from adding new contacts directly into 3CX. We can also help with ensuring only calls to people in the contact list are permitted. If someone attempts to add a contact directly into 3CX, we can use the 3CX Call Control API to capture the event and instantly remove the contact from 3CX.
