I have a Patton 4114 with a single line attached to our paging system. The second line key on our Cisco SPA514Gs dials 55, which is handled like an external call and routed through the Patton into the page system, which records for 15 seconds and then plays the recording overhead. If the page key is pressed a second time while the first page call is still connected, the first call will be put on hold and the second will fail(line in use). The hold music plays overhead, but that isn't really a problem.
At least once, we've had the line not release when the page system had finished. Using the management console, we were able to determine which phone was using the line, and further inspection revealed that the call had been held. The net effect is that no one can page until the phone from which the call was placed is located and the call is disconnected. My assumption is that this is normal, and that the staff noticed the flashing red line key in other instances and hung up.
We've sent out a notice that pressing the page button a second time does not disconnect the call, but is there a way to restrict call duration to ~45 seconds for this port or for the entire page gateway?
