Linksys SPA942 - no ringing tone

When I dial an external number I don't hear a ringing tone for the destination number. Internal numbers are ringing ok. Should I be looking a the config of my SIP trunk or is the dial plan on my SPA942 ?

Are you trying to use the SPA to ring external (eg via the PSTN) or are you using your VSP?

Keep in mind when dialing external you must have a dial rule in 3CX eg prefix 9 or 0 which ever digit you nominated, so 3cx knows you want to dial out.

Probably your SIP trunk - it's probably not signalling PROCEEDING (I think) back to the phone, whereas 3CX is.
