Is the only option to go through the web page when doing an install, or is there a way to run the iso and do an install with just command lines or referencing a config file?

No, first do the install of the iso and than you need to go further through the webinterface.

The website will walk you through creating a config file that is sure to work - this you can then use during the install. Crating this file by hand will have many pitfalls you will need to resolve one by one.

Given the above, yes that guide can still be followed, keeping in mind that some changes might have happened since it was written.

Is there a bare minimum that needs to be configured in the setup.xml file? Obviously, the less complicated the better chance for success.
