Hello,

I'm running 3CX 15.5 on a VM. In all examples here, we are using Hyper-V running on Server 2016.

We have been running 3CX on a Windows Server 2016 VM for a few months now and it's been good. But we were interested in shifting to Linux for 3CX because it would (we thought) provide us with a 3CX instance that would use less RAM. We average about 1 call sim (2 max). and do not record calls. We have 2 IP phones (2 extensions) in use and one of those also has the 3CX Android app. On the Windows VM we average about 3GB RAM (includes the guest OS and 3CX). No other software is installed or used on this VM so it's dedicated to 3CX. We were expecting to drop our RAM usage with Linux to about 2GB. However, after installing the 3CX pre-built ISO Dublian for 3CX on a Linux VM (Hyper-V) we are noticing that it's trying to consume 5GB of RAM. This doesn't seem right. Why would a Linux VM take 2GB more then the Windows VM?

Ok. Well, that doesn't really help us with our VMs RAM usage then. We'll move back to Windows Server.

Thanks,

Why not restrict the memory assigned to the 3CX Linux HyperV

There is no way for us to know how much to restrict it. Since we are doing server-consolidation every GB counts. So we just rather not mess with it. We aren't really that big on Linux over here anyways because of the extra overhead and headaches. It's just easier to continue using Windows then to guess at how much RAM is really needed by Linux.

Hello,

I'm running a Debian 3CX Instance on VirtualBox

Configured with:

512MB Ram
20GB HD

For 2-4 concurrent calls works great!

Cheers.

I'll keep that in mind of we decide to re-visit this in the future. For now, we must move on to other servers. Thanks for the input!

We’re running 3CX on a vm with 2GB ram. 110 extensions and anywhere from 10-20 simultaneous calls at a time. It’s been sitting at 32% utilization(1.3GB free)
