I am experimenting with an on prem 3cx installation. Somehow locked myself out and it won't send me my password. I have tried from a few different IP addresses. Is there any way to do it from my on-prem server? Maybe 3CX can reset it for me?

In V20 every extension must have a unique email address. If you have multiple extensions with the same email address, you will not receive the password reset email. Do you have another System Owner extension you can login to that you could use to reset your password?

Also if using 3CX SMTP if a message bounces it will block that address for a while.

Do you have a backup file saved? You can dig into the XML.

In V20 is the password still in clear text in the backup XML? I thought that was one of the changes in later versions of 3CX, but honestly I've not needed to check that in a long time.

I do not know, honestly, haven't looked in a while.

Won't work in v20 because no root user (has to be sysowner role) and all extension passwords are hashed. I mean, you could reverse the hash, but not something that you'll find discussion on.

Now if it's v18, I haven't looked in a while either.

EDIT: Fixed typo

As i can see your PBX is in V18.
Try the reset password option and as username use "admin", then check if the email is received.

Hi Theodore,

Thank you for the response. I just tried using admin as the reset username It is v18 and I did create 2 extensions with the same email address. I have not done a backup. Fortunately this is a test setup and I will probably just start over if that is my only option.

Also I think I disabled the first extension I made. I had no idea that was tied to my ability to log on as an administrator.

v18 has a login for the management console and later updates for it had an Admin tab in the /webclient interface based on extension, but they should be unrelated AFAIK.

v20 has only the latter as the former is removed.

I learned a lot from this experience and I am starting over. Thanks for your help. I was able to get calls routing to al of my Grandstream systems which is part of what I wanted to do and that part was easy.

@pboe-pbx glad to know this is resolved. ;)
