With v18 and the new windows client, have the MacOS customers been abandoned? No that the Chrome extension is abandoned, I have nothing positive to answer to my customers.

What do I tell my lawfirm customers using Mac computers?

A macOS version of the app will be coming in the near future (no ETA). Just let them finish the Windows one and they'll probably port it for Mac after that.

I also have dozens of Mac clients currently using Chrome/Edge and the 3CX extension with v16. I am a bit confused about what do to now. I am finding conflicting information about the v18 upgrade:
  • The 3CX extension is abandoned in favour of the Windows (electron) app
  • The web client still works with v18
  • There is no Mac client (yet)
So what am I do to about the 3CX installations which are predominantly used with macOS/Chrome/Edge+3CX extension? Is it better to wait and keep using v16 until a new macOS client is available or is it possible to use the v18 webclient without any extension (retaining full functionality) on macOS Chrome based browsers?

Thanks for any hint (even if it's just "you should have read X where it says Y"...) - I wasn't lazy, I am just confused.

It currently is not available for the 3CX v18 webclient but it is coming: https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/v18-alpha-5-new-native-desktop-app.82175/page-11#post-387445

Yes, v18 has its own webclient and it should work on any supported browser. Again, as of yet, there is no browser extension for it.

Correct, there is yet no Mac specific client. You can however, as mentioned previously, use the v18 webclient with a supported browser.

The 3CX Browser extension used to offer the following:

• ClicktoCall functionality: Converted numbers in websites into clickable links that, when clicked on, would copy the number into the 3CX Browser dialer.

• Appeared as a separate dialer detached from the web browser.

If the above two points are not something vital for your operations I would recommend transitioning over to 3CX v18. You can always just deploy a test PBX on v18 to test it out first if you're hesitant of upgrading straight away. However, do bear in mind that 3CX v18 is the latest stable version and officially is the only 3CX Supported version too.
