We need call initiating integration with our web based CRM. Our CRM can launch calls either by using the callto or the tel protocols.

We were using the 3CXPhone for Windows app, on Windows 10. With the app it was quite simple to have the app be the default app for tel and callto protocols: go to Choose default apps by protocol and selecting 3CXPhone as the default apps for tel and callto protocols.

We now switched over to the 3CX webclient and chrome extension. However, there is no way to select the webclient or the extension as the default app in Windows, it does not appear as a choice in the app selector. Is there anyway to tell Windows to use the webclient or the extension for these protocols ?

I have tried one workaround, I am able to launch calls using an URL: https://(mydomain).my3cx.ca/webclient/#/call?phone=[number]
However this goes to the webclient dialing page, in the same tab, leaving the CRM page. Is there anyway to make the URL to the webclient calling page open in a new tab, or even better would be to have a URL that would open the chrome extension instead ?

Hi @mikepit,

Using the 3CX Browser Extension, it should allow you to click on numbers in Chrome and bring them up in the browser extension? This should allow you to click the numbers within your CRM too?

Yes, this feature (click2call) does work, but unfortunately while this does initiate a call, when done in this manner, the call is not initiated by the CRM, and this does not trigger our logging and journaling features of our CRM. When 3CXPhone for Windows is used and set as the default for the callto: (or tel) protocols, all the features in our CRM work fine.

May I ask, which CRM are you using?
Have you done a Client-Side CRM integration, or a Server-Side CRM integration from the Management Console --> Settings --> CRM Integration?

The CRM we are using is Pipedrive, it is web based, accessible through a browser. As far as we know there is no integration template so it will need to be a customized integration.

No, we have not done the integration yet because we were waiting to see if we should do it with the 3CXPhone for Windows or with the 3CX webclient. We were at the testing stages to compare features of the 3CXPhone vs. the 3CX webclient and we came across this limitation of the 3CX webclient (not compatible with being used with windows tel: and callto: protocol settings), wheras the 3CXPhone is.
