Hey Team,

Trying to get a multivideo conferencing application working within Elastix, in doing so I don't think I fully understand the layout of Elastix.

In Elastix, when doing a standard audio conferencing, does Elastix use the application "Meetme" (app_meetme.so) for its fuctions or is it using "ConfBridge" application available under the newer asterisk versions. Is the ConfBridge application what is used for the webconf?

Thanks,

Hi Amphibian.

I guess that Confbridge is the same like Meetme but it includes the video.
However you need to use the same video codec everywhere. (no video translation yet).

Sir danardf,

Have you any experience with ConfBridge?

Hi

Sorry, none
I just read some stuff on Asterisk wiki, that's all.

Go into unembedded freepbx>settings>advanced settings> and set conference room app to app_confbridge. I have had to reboot sometimes to get it to start using the other conference app.

Sir surp,

Pretend I a real dummy, you know like some of the people that buy the "Dummy for Dummies" books, and please explain to me what occurs or what takes place when I change the conference room app to app_confbridge. What can I expect to happen after doing that?

If I read correctly from the asterisk web site app_confbridge is another method of doing like a web conference but with the moderator video being displayed to all. Is that what you are aware of to or am I misunderstanding the purpose behind it?

Thanks for you post though, just want to know what to expect before I make the change.

Try it and find out. You are not going to break anything.
