Hi.. I have a couple of deskphones that are in a RG.. when caller 1 calls in, Phone A and B will show the call (as it should). When Phone A answers the call and Caller 2 calls in, Phone B shows the call, but not Phone A. I have set the parameter ALLOWUSEBUSYOPTFORGROUP to "1" instead of the default "0" which in my understanding would allow the behavior of ANY phones in a ring group would display ANY calls coming in even if they are on the phone with another caller at the time. Can anyone tell me if this is the correct approach? Basically as I just mentioned.. I would like the members of the Ring Group to see ALL CALLS whether they are on the phone or not so they have the opportunity to answer it. Thanks for your time. - Bill

Hi,
this is something lot of users wants but from 3cx point of view, users in ring group or queue can only accept one call...as its often requested, you can vote for theses ideas in proper forum section.
You will need to use workarounds here, not supported by 3cx. The parameter "ALLOWUSEBUSYOPTFORGROUP " is the classical trick but I dont use it.

One thing you can try in your case is to set inbound rule to go to A, and set A to allow mutliple calls, and to ring mobile number simultaneously. Then set extension number B into mobile phone A field. This should allow both extensions to see all the calls.

Drawback are :
  • A cant be join without ringing B at the same time + its not very convenient for audio announcement (but tell me if its the case because there are others tricks ;).
  • Be careful to use same forward rule for B. Exemple redirection to voicemail after 20sec for B and A.
  • If user A sometimes dont work when user B work, you can set a custom status for user A which redirect calls to B, and the dtmf to change status in one touch.
  • But if its the opposite (B dont work, A work, you dont want phone B ring), then its a problem. Dont know but I am sure you can find a workaround again ;)

Thank you for your reply.. I will keep working on this. - Bill

So.. what I've done to remedy this is: I have reduced the ring group to the operator extension and set to goto call Q (if no answer). The call Q only has one member which is the operator extension. I have an announcement that plays when callers get into the Q, and when the current operator inbound call is finished and hangs up, the next caller comes in. Seems to be working great so far, but still looking for improvements.
