I’m in the process of upgrading from 3CX v18 (On-Prem, Windows) to 3CX v20 (Debian) and I’ve run into a licensing issue. Here’s my setup and situation:
Note: I cannot restore backups because the new installation uses a different extension length.
What I’d like to do is migrate or transfer the license from [email protected] to [email protected] so the new v20 instance is properly licensed under the correct account.
Questions:
Additional Info:
Thanks in advance for your guidance!
- Old installation (v18): On-Prem Windows Server licensed under [email protected]
- New installation (v20): Debian. Activated using [email protected] with trial license.
Note: I cannot restore backups because the new installation uses a different extension length.
What I’d like to do is migrate or transfer the license from [email protected] to [email protected] so the new v20 instance is properly licensed under the correct account.
Questions:
- What’s the correct process to move or reassign a 3CX license from one account to another?
- Do I need to contact 3CX Support directly, or can this be handled via the Customer Portal?
- Are there any specific steps I should follow before reactivating the key on the new system (e.g., unregistering the old instance)?
Additional Info:
- Both accounts are under the same company domain.
- The old server will be decommissioned once migration is complete.
- Backup restoration isn’t an option due to extension length differences.
Thanks in advance for your guidance!
